Diego Maradona dies aged 60

The world has just lost one of the greatest soccer players of all time. Soccer legend Diego Maradona died of a heart attack at the age of 60, today, November 25, 2020. He died at home, in Argentina. Argentina President Fernandez has called for three days of national mourning. In response to news of his death, Europe's soccer governing body - UEFA - has announced there will be a minute of silence for Maradona before its Champions League and Europa league games this week.  "He will go down in history as someone who set football alight and thrilled fans young and old with his brilliance and skill," UEFA President Čeferin said in a statement. Earlier this month, Maradona underwent successful surgery for a subdural hematoma (blood clot on the brain). Insigne: Messi is currently the best in the world, but Maradona is sacred

Lorenzo Insigne, Napoli forward and captain agrees that Lionel Messi is the best player in the world, but refuses to compare him to Diego Maradona, a Napoli legend. Maradona played for both Barcelona and Napoli during his best years. He led Napoli to their last Italian championship.  Napoli face Barcelona in the Champions League tomorrow. "Currently, Messi is the best player in the world, but I can't compare him to Maradona because for us Neapolitans, Diego is sacred," Insigne told the press. Diego Maradona: "Messi will never be a leader"

58-year-old Argentina legend Diego Armando Maradona was recently discharged from hospital in Argentina, and spoke to a local news outlet, Ole. Maradona who once managed the Barcelona forward called the 31-year-old Barcelona captain a phenomenon amidst vivid criticisms of his leadership abilities. He said,  "I love him with all my heart, he is a phenomenon, but they want to make him a leader, and he will never be a leader." "He will always stay in his sporting, family and football world." Despite Maradonna's criticism, Messi is doing pretty well and will resume international duty this year for Copa America. Last year, speaking to Mexican program 'La Ultima Palabra', Maradona still took a dig at Messi, saying,  "He does ask for it on the pitch, but before speaking to teammates he'll go and play the PlayStation.
