Best FIFA Awards 2019: Jurgen Klopp named Best FIFA Men's Coach of the Year

Liverpool manager 52-year-old Jurgen Klopp beat Tottenham's Mauricio Pochettino and Manchester City's Pep Guardiola to win the award for Best Men's coach at the FIFA The Best Awards in Milan this evening. Liverpool won the Champions League and came second in the Premier League last season, recording a tally of 97 points.  Jurgen Klopp made a heart-warming announcement upon accepting his award. He announced that he just joined the Common Goal Initiative set up by Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata. Joining CGI implies that 1% of his salary would be channeled to the charity which pledges to "generate social change and improve lives. Wow. It’s quite heavy! 2019's Puskas Award nominees revealed, Lionel Messi in, Cristiano Ronaldo out

10 candidates have been shortlisted by FIFA for this year's Puskas Award. The Puskas Award is bestowed on the most beautiful goal scored in the calendar year. Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah won the 2018 edition of the award for his virtuoso goal against Everton in the Premier League. A fan vote, which ends on September 1, will decide on the goals that make the top three. A panel of FIFA legends will them decide upon the overall winner from the final three.  Messi's outrageous chip against Real Betis in La Liga in March is among the nominated goals. Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo however didn't make the cut. Africa is represented by Cameroon's Ajara Nchout. You can vote your favorite goal here . Ronaldo on FIFA Puskas Award: "My goal was the best."

To Cristiano Ronaldo, the overhead bicycle kick he scored for Real Madrid against his current club Juventus, in the past Champions League, was better than Mohamed Salah's Premier League goal which won the FIFA goal of the year award (Puskas). Salah's fine curling strike against Everton in December controversially won him the award, beating Ronaldo's bicycle kick, Lionel Messi's amazing World Cup goal against Nigeria, and Gareth Bale's stunning overhead goal against Liverpool in the 2017/2018 Champions League final. Ronaldo scored his acrobatic goal in the Champions League quarter-finals and joined Juventus a few months later.
