Reza Paratesh, a 26-year-old Iranian was recently accused on social media, of using his resemblance to the renowned football icon Lionel Messi, to sleep with 23 women. An article by Spanish football outlet  Marca , claimed Paratesh had slept with at least 23 women who thought he was Lionel Messi, and was reported to the authorities. Paratesh told Omasport:  “The news is spreading in the Muslim countries and it has been a disaster. "I was severely harassed because it released the whole world on me. Louis van Gaal blames Lionel Messi for Barcelona's failure at the Champions League

Former Barcelona and Netherlands manager Louis van Gaal hit out at Lionel Messi on the latter's birthday with stern criticism. Van Gaal blames the Barcelona captain for Barcelona's failure to win the coveted Champions League trophy since 2015. The 67-year-old also believes his successors have given the Blaugrana 10 too much freedom in recent years. He claimed Messi should be adapting to the team and not the team to him. Last season, Barcelona lost to eventual Champions League winners, Liverpool, in the semi-final. “I believe that there is nothing more important than the team player,” said Van Gaal. “Barca suffer from that. I think Messi should ask himself how it is possible that he’s gone so long without winning a Champions League. “Look at Barcelona. How many Champions Leagues have they won with the one everybody says is the best player in the world? Look at Neymar at PSG. How many Champions Leagues has he won? “He’s the best individual player in the world because

‘Another Copa begins now’ – Messi sees Argentina growing after needed win over Qatar

Argentina captain Lionel Messi, has declared that "another Copa begins now" for Argentina after helping them narrowly cross to the quarterfinals. Argentina lost to Colombia in their first game, drew with Paraguay in the second, and beat Qatar in their final group game yesterday. Goals from Lautaro Martinez and Sergio Aguero gave La Albiceleste the much needed victory to qualify for the quarterfinals. Messi is looking to take positives from their victory while looking forward to their last-eight encounter with Venezuela on Sunday. After the game, he told reporters, "We played a good game and we won, and that was what mattered. "We needed a game like this to gain some confidence and calm. As we play more games, the team grows each one and that game was good for that. "The important thing was to win to keep going in the Copa, to get through the group stage. This will be an important boost for what's to come ... another Copa begins now. "This vi

Sarri wants CR9, not CR7, and 40 goals from Cristiano Ronaldo

New Juventus manager Maurizzio Sarri has met Cristiano Ronaldo (who is on vacation in Greece) to discuss the new center-forward role he wants Ronaldo to take on at Juventus. Sources such as La Stampa, Gazetta dello Sport, Corrierre della Serra claim Sarri and Juventus director of sport Fabio Paratici flew out to Cote d'Azur (South France) on Friday for a meeting with the Juve star on his yatch. Sarri reportedly told Cristiano Ronaldo he would prefer he operates more in a 'number 9' role, so that he could be closer to the opposition goal than he is out on the wing. Sarri believes this will enable Ronaldo score more goals.  The 34-year-old striker scored 21 goals in his first Serie A season, but the target Sarri has set for Ronaldo this season in attaining Gonzalo Higuain's record haul of 36 goals in a season - a feat he achieved while playing at Napoli in the 2015-16 season, under Sarri. During Sarri's unveiling at Juventus on Thursday, he said he wants to h

Lionel Messi goal salvages Copa América point for Argentina

Argentina have hardly been as poor as they have been this Copa, with already two shaky performances in their two group games. Matchday two, Argentina vs Paraguay, Richard Sanchez gives Paraguay the lead in the 37th minute,  firing into the bottom corner after a lung-bursting run from Miguel Almiron down the left wing. Messi then salvages Argentina with a goal from penalty in the 57th minute after a hand-ball by Paraguay's Ivan Piris is spotted by VAR review. Derlis Gonzalez would then take on a spot-kick for Paraguay but his shot is saved by Argentina keeper Franco Armani. He is also to be credited for saving a free kick from Matias Roja. Argentina who sit at the bottom of Group B with only a point from two games must beat third-placed Qatar in their final group game on Sunday in order to progress to the knock-out stage. Group B leaders, Colombia, are already qualified for the quarter-finals, after beating Qatar 1-0 earlier yesterday. Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni told

'No time to complain' - Messi says Argentina must look ahead after shock Copa America loss

Barcelona captain Lionel Messi's side, Argentina, suffered a shock defeat to Colombia in their first game at the Copa America. Nonetheless, the Argentina main believes the Albiceleste can still control their destiny in the Copa. He says there is no time for Argentina to complain after their first defeat to Colombia since 2007. Roger Martinez opened scoring for Colombia with an unstoppable drive in the 72nd minute before substitute Duvan Zapata finished off a good team move four minutes into stoppage time, despite Argentina dominating the game. “There are positives to come out of this, we are ready to accept the challenge that we have,” Messi said after the game. “There is no time to complain, we have to look ahead, we have to raise our heads and continue, there’s still a lot of the tournament left. “They kept the ball well but didn’t create clear opportunities, but when we took a step forwards in the second half they scored a goal. “When we were playing at our best, the

Cesc Fabregas: Messi is 'more complete than ever' at 32

Cesc Fabregas and Lionel Messi and close friends. The pair have played together from the age of 12 to 16, at La Masia, and were reunited in 2011 when Fabregas returned to Barcelona, for a three-year spell, before joining Chelsea. The former Chelsea man believes Lionel Messi is now "a more complete player than ever" at the age of 32. Fabregas currently lays for Monaco, and had earlier played for Arsenal, aged 16. Fabregas outlined to Goal why he believes Messi has gotten better with age, despite taking on players less often.  “That's the thing with Leo, he reinvents himself season after season,” Cesc said of the Rosario-born star. “Maybe he is not the player who dribbles past three, four or five players and score an outstanding goal any more. “Instead, now, he prefers to do 50-yard passes, leaving Jordi Alba one-versus-one with the goalkeeper.  “He sees one-twos around the box, he might do a chip and an assist... I think now he is more complete than ever.” W
