Zidane opens the door to Cristiano Ronaldo: 'The Ronaldo rumors could be true!'

Cristiano Ronaldo's future has made the headlines since Juve's shock round of 16 Champions League elimination. Among the rumors about his future are stories of a possible return to Real Madrid. Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane may just have given more backing to the rumor after hinting that Real Madrid will try and re-sign Cristiano from Juventus this summer - with the Italian giants being tipped to cash in on the 36-year-old before he becomes a free agent in 2022. Ahead of Real Madrid's Champions League clash with Atalanta on Tuesday, Zinedine Zidane told Sky Italia: "It could happen. We know him and I've had the good fortune to coach him. "He's an impressive forward, we'll see what happens in the future. He's a Juventus player right now." It's worth noting that Cristiano Ronaldo is Real Madrid’s all-time highest goalscorer - with 450 goals in 438 games.

Cristiano Ronaldo commits 'unforgivable error' in Fabio Capello's words as Juventus is stunned by 10-man Porto in Champions League

Cristiano Ronaldo has been heavily criticized by Italian media since Juventus' shocking exit from the Champions League yesterday night - more so because he played a pivotal role in Porto's win. Juventus and Porto went into extra time, with the latter one-player short since the first half. In the 115th minute, Porto was awarded a free-kick 35 yards away from the Juve goal. Sergio Olivera bagged his second goal of the night to put Porto up on aggregate. The low shot traveled through the legs of Cristiano Ronaldo who had turned his back on the ball, and despite Wojciech Szczensy's sizeable hand in the effort, he couldn't prevent the shot from shooting into his net. Adrien Rabiot later scored for Juventus, but it wasn't enough as Porto had a 4-3 lead on aggregate. Former Italy and Juventus manager Fabio Capello called Ronaldo's mistake unforgivable after the game.  "There are single mistakes and (mistakes due to) loss of concentration on all the goals con

Cristiano Ronaldo salvages draw for Juventus against Atalanta with two penalties

Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo rescued a draw for Juventus vs Atalanta yesterday after converting two penalties awarded for handball. Though the handballs were accidental, referee Pierro Giacomelli had to follow the new rules and award them. Atalanta who have scored the most goals in Serie A this season, would have climbed to second place and cut the gap between them and Juventus to six points had they won. They have scored 19 more goals than any Serie A side this season. Atalanta controlled long periods of the game, with two goals from Duvin Zapata and Ruslan Malinovskiy. Juventus savior Cristiano Ronaldo took his league goals tally to 28 goals in 28 league games with his two goals from the spot kick. Ronaldo has now concerted 11 of 11 penalty kicks in Serie A this season, a tie with Roberto Baggio's 1997/1998 record for most penalty goals scored without missing in a single Serie A season (assuming he doesn't miss any for the rest of the season). Ronaldo has scored 17.1%

Cristiano Ronaldo greets imaginary fans as coronavirus sees Juventus win against Inter played behind closed doors

Juventus played their derby game vs Inter Milan on Sunday behind closed doors due to the rapid spread of the coronavirus in Italy. Large parts of Italy are actually on lockdown. The Italian government has actually confirmed that all sport in the country will be played behind closed doors until April 3, a decision that was supported by Inter president Steven Zhang.  He told BBC Sport: 'From a moral standpoint, as president of a football club and a manager in an organisation who are involved in these events, I just cannot accept this kind of proposal and I cannot let public health be put in this difficult condition,' he said. 'It doesn't matter what kind of game it is, it doesn't matter if it was 24 hours or 48 hours, we knew the situation was not going to be gone. 'The right thing to do was to reject the proposal. I had to do what was morally correct, even though it was difficult to say no. But we made the right choice and now people realize it was c

Cristiano Ronaldo & Paulo Dybala caught on camera blaming Juventus midfield for Lyon defeat

Juventus attacking duo Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala were unable to score for Juventus in the first leg of the Champions League last 16 tie, and the pair blame their midfield for this. The Turin powerhouse was beaten by Lyon 1-0 at Parc OL in France. Juventus conceeded the goal in the first-half during which Juventus put up a rather poor display. Dybala and Ronaldo chatted freely in the tunnel while waiting for the kick-off of the second half, unaware that there was a TV camera in the tunnel. It recorded their conversation, an exchange in Spanish. "We are left alone out there, the midfielders are giving us no support,” the five-time Ballon d’Or winner grumbled to Dybala. "Nobody is getting the ball,” Dybala replied. "I know, not even the second balls, nothing,” Ronaldo said. There was some improvement from Juventus in the second half but they still couldn't overturn the one goal deficit.

Cristiano Ronaldo confident of Champions League turnaround: 'We can turn it around'

Juventus has what it takes to overturn their last Champions League 16 first first leg deficit, believes Cristiano Ronaldo. The Italian giants lost 1-0 to Lyon in the first leg of the Champions League last 16. That was the first time Lyon achieved such a feat. They had played Juventus four times before, losing thrice and managing a draw. This month, Juventus shall welcome Lyon at the Allianz stadium for the second leg. And Ronaldo is convinced Juve have what it takes to qualify and move onto the next stage. He told Sky Sport Italia: "These are things that can happen, it is football we are not happy with the defeat against Lyon. "It can happen in the Champions League because all the matches are difficult. We’re angry, but there is a return leg at home. "We are very confident of reversing the result and passing to the next round, but our priority now is to win the next games. Then we will think of the Champions League. "We are calm, focused and re

Cristiano Ronaldo has failed to score in 38 consecutive free-kicks for Juventus

Cristiano Ronaldo and Juventus were stunned by Lyon in their last 16 Champions League tie as they lost 1-0 to Lyon. Cristiano was unable to come to his side's aid, with Juventus having only on shot on target during the game. Note that Cristiano Ronaldo has an incredible Champions League knockout record - a ridiculous 65 goals in 79 matches. Ronaldo took a free-kick from 30 yards in first half injury-time but it was a poor attempt which crashed into the wall. That happened to be his 38th free-kick attempt for Juventus, and his 38th failure. Out of the 38 attempts, he’s hit the wall 24 times, 11 have been saved by the goalkeeper, he’s missed the target twice and hit the crossbar once. He has spent more than two years without scoring from a free-kick. Cristiano last scored a free-kick on December 16, 2017 when he was playing for Real Madrid. The Juve star has however been in formidable form this season, bagging 21 goals in 21 Serie A matches. He will probably be pivotal if

Cristiano Ronaldo plays 1000th official game of his career

Portugal football legend Cristiano Ronaldo has hit another historic milestone in his illustrious career. He has become one of a few group of players to reach four figures in senior appearances. Ronaldo started for Juventus against SPAL in Serie on Saturday in his 1,000th appearance for club and country and scored in his 11th consecutive Serie A game. By doing so, he equaled a Serie A record currently held by Gabriel Bautista and Fabio Quagliarella. Cristiano began his career at Sporting CP in his home country Portugal, then moved to the Premier League in 2003, joining Manchester United. He won three Premier League titles and one Champions League title in 2008. For the five years he spent at Manchester United, he made 292 appearances. From the Premier League, Ronaldo moved onto La Liga in 2009 where he spent the most part of his professional career. He made 438 competitive appearances in Real Madrid colors, and became the club's highest-ever scorer in just 9 years, with 4

Cristiano Ronaldo takes off Supercoppa runners up medal as Juventus lose to Lazio

Juventus suffered their second loss to Lazio in the month of December as they succumbed to a 1-3 loss at the Italian Super Cup final in Saudi Arabia. A disappointed, unhappy Ronaldo did not hesitate to take off his medal as soon as a dignitary wore it on his neck. After all, the Portuguese champion who is known for not celebrating second-best positions has won 29 trophies in his illustrious career with club and country. The game was played in the Saudi Arabia capital of Riyadh. Cristiano Ronaldo provided the assist for Paulo Dybala who scored the lone goal for Juventus. Luis Alberto scored Lazio's first goal, Senad Lulic the second, and Danilo Cataldi the third.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored legendary NBA-style header

Cristiano Ronaldo, on Wednesday night scored an astonishing header to give Juventus the win against Sampdoria (a 2-1 victory). He sprang into the Genoa air night, hung in for 1.5 seconds and scored a powerful header past the goalkeeper. In their official match report, Juventus described Ronaldo's spring as "worthy of Michael Jordan". They also claimed his feet reached an altitude of 71 centimeters. Sampdoria coach Claudio Ranieri told Sky Italia after the match, "When they score these type of goals you can only shake their hands, those are worth the price of the ticket. "Ronaldo did something you see in the NBA, he was suspended for an hour and a half. There's nothing to say, only compliments." Ronaldo was unusually humble about the goal, saying: "I didn't know these numbers. I'm very happy to have helped the team win. The important thing is to give Juve a hand and win titles. "We had a good attitude for 90 minutes and it&

Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly regrets Real Madrid exit

According to Sksports.com, Cristiano Ronaldo has told several former Real Madrid teammates that he regrets leaving Real Madrid for Juventus and believes he would have won the 2018 and 2019 Ballon d'Or trophies had he still been at the Bernabeu. Los Blancos were paid a fee of €112million for the 34-year-old forward. Back then, Ronaldo said moving to Italy was a "new challenge" he was looking forward to. In 2018, Ronaldo was not happy that Real Madrid weren't paying him what Barcelona were paying Lionel Messi or PSG, Neymar. He made his wishes known to his agent Jorge Mendes in February 2018. Mendes reportedly wasn't in favor of a move but Ronaldo insisted. Real Madrid insisted they were paying Ronaldo the most they could. Alas, Ronaldo signed for Juventus in the summer of 2018. Ronaldo was Juventus' top-scorer in the 2018-19 season, scoring 28 goals and providing 10 assists across all competitions. So far this season, Ronaldo has scored only 8 goals an

Amoruso: Cristiano Ronaldo has been dragging himself around the pitch

Former Juventus striker Nicola Amoruso has called on Cristiano Ronaldo to manage his game time better so he can return to top form. According to the former Juventus man, Ronaldo must swallow his pride and reduce his workload to be peformant. "Cristiano has been dragging himself around the pitch for a few months now," Amoruso said.   "He should swallow his pride and admit that, at his age, rest is pretty much more important than playing. "It's a tricky issue to handle, but I'm convinced he can still make the difference." The Turin giant has scored seven goals in his 16 games for Juventus this season; six in Serie A and 1 in the Champions League.

Paulo Dybala's Thunderbolt strike steals show from Cristiano Ronaldo in the Champions League

Thanks to Paulo Dybala, Juventus beat Atletico Madrid yesterday night and now top group D in the Champions League. He scored the lone goal of the encounter, making headlines in place of Juventus' biggest star Cristiano Ronaldo. The latter seems to have been having a little bad luck with the Champions League this month. Three weeks ago, Aaron Ramsey poked in Cristiano Ronaldo's goalbound free kick, preventing him from breaking a new Champions League record by scoring against a 34th different club. Yesterday, Paulo Dybala's thunderbolt free kick scored within seconds to the end of the second half sent supporters and social media into frenzy. Paulo Dybala has been able to score a goal already in just two free kick attempts whereas Cristiano Ronaldo has scored none in 10 free kicks taken. Dybala is also Juventus' Champions League top scorer since Ronaldo joined the club in 2018. Dybala has scored eight goals in the Champions League since the 2018 season, and Ronald

Diego Simeone: It's not Ronaldo against Atletico Madrid, we came to play against Juventus

Champions League fixtures return this week, and Atletico Madrid face Juventus today at Turin. Diego Simeone - Atleti coach - told the press Atletico would be facing a team and not Cristiano Ronaldo as an individual despite his goal-scoring prowess.  "Cristiano Ronaldo is a champion and we can't say anything," he said. "He is number one, extraordinary and always makes the difference. "However, I don't think it's Ronaldo against Atletico, as we have come to play against Juve." He also said Atletico Madrid follow his game-by-game philosophy and do not speculate on their qualification to the Champions League round of 16. "We have a way of working, thinking about tomorrow's game and then there are a lot of results that can generate satisfaction or not," he continued. "Then we will look at the match that remains. "The opponent is strong, with a powerful squad and a coach with a very strong style that he is transm

Juventus coach Maurizio Sarri says Cristiano Ronaldo 'is not a problem'

A furious Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly left the stadium early after being replaced by Paulo Dybala in the 55th minute in Sunday's game between Juventus and AC Milan. The young Dybala scored the winning goal in the 79th minute, providing Juventus with a much needed win required to top Serie A ahead of Inter Milan. According to Sky Sport Italia, Ronaldo left the stadium three minutes before the match ended. To that allegation, Sarri replied, " If it's true that he left before the end it is a problem to be resolved with his teammates."   Cristiano Ronaldo has now been substituted in two consecutive games. He also had a furious reaction after being substituted in Juventus' 2-1 win against Lokomotiv Moscow midweek. Ronaldo has now been substituted as many times this season as he was throughout the entire 2018/19 campaign. This according to Sarri is the result of a knee injury Ronaldo has been struggling with. Sarri told Sky Sports Italia,  "He [Cristi

Cristiano Ronaldo Missing His Real Madrid Form

Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid are missing something in common - Cristiano's scoring prowess at Real Madrid. In his first year at Juventus, Cristiano scored 27 goals in 42 games, his worst record since the 2008/09 campaign, when he left Manchester United for Real Madrid. Cristiano's 27 goals last season weren't enough to land him the Capocannoniere - the prize given to Serie A's top scorer. It seems he may face the same challenges this season as well. As of now, the Juve No. 7 has scored five goals in nine league games, way less than Ciro Immobile's 13 in 11 and Romelu Lukaku's 9 in 11.  Atlanta's Luis Muriel has scored eight goals in nine games, Sassuolo's Domenico Berardi has seven in nine, and Atalanta's Duvan Zapata, six in seven. Arkadiusz Milik is on five goals like Cristiano but has achieved the feat in six games - three less than Cristiano. Last season, Cristiano only managed 83 shots on target, but at Real Madrid, he never drop

Juventus plan to spend big on "the new Cristiano Ronaldo"

Speaking at the Bianconeri's annual shareholders' meeting for 2019, Paolo Aicardi, the chairman of the Juventus Shareholders Association, said that the signing of their most popular player Cristiano Ronaldo represented the end of a cycle for Juventus. AS reports that Aicardi said:  "Ronaldo was the endpoint of a plan that started eight years ago when (Mirko) Vucinic was our star signing. "From him to Cristiano there were various steps: (Carlos) Tevez, (Sami) Khedira... these signings show that Juventus are bringing in the biggest names in football. "When Cristiano, the number one, arrived, it was made clear that now any player can choose Juventus ahead of Real Madrid, Manchester United or Barca. "Today everything is possible, and the signing of (Matthijs) De Ligt is proof of that. Our next idea is to sign the new Cristiano Ronaldo, but a younger version.” Aicardi however gave no indication of who the club might be looking at. Juventus chairman

Cristiano Ronaldo opens up on iconic rivalry with Lionel Messi

In an interview broadcast by Portuguese television channel TVI, Cristiano Ronaldo opened up about his relationship and rivalry with Lionel Messi. Both players are considered to be two of the greatest players in football history. In the interview, Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo said his rivalry with the Barcelona ace has pushed him to become a better player.  "I really admire the career he has had so far and, for his part, he has already said that he had trouble when I left the Spanish league because it is a rivalry that he appreciates,” he said. "It is a good rivalry that exists in football, but this is no exception. “Michael Jordan had rivals in basketball, Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost were great rivals in Formula 1, the only common point between all the big rivalries in the sport is that they are healthy. "Messi makes me a better player and vice versa.” Both players have five Ballon d'Or awards each, and share nine Champion League titles - five for

All the times Cristiano Ronaldo has talked about Lionel Messi

One can confidently say Lionel Messi is one of Cristiano Ronaldo's favorite discussion themes given that Ronaldo has regularly spoken about the Barcelona talisman and their fierce rivalry throughout his career. He's either claiming to be the better of the pair, praising him or requesting he follows him to Italy. Messi on the other hand being a very private person rarely speaks about Ronaldo. In March, he however admitted to missing he and Ronaldo's battles in La Liga.  Ronaldo recently claimed the difference between Messi and himself is that he has won the Champions League with different clubs. Herewith a compilation of all of Ronaldo's comments about Messi. May 2009 | ‘I’m still No.1’ Prior to the 2009 Champions League final between Manchester United and Barcelona, Ronaldo claimed he would remain the world's best player regardless of the outcome of the final. Ronaldo went on to be crowned World Player of the Year for 2008 ahead of Messi. “It made me p

Cristiano Ronaldo reveals the difference between himself and Lionel Messi

34-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo was a guest in the latest DAZN documentary 'The Making Of'. In the documentary, he throws light on the ongoing debate of who the better play is between himself and Messi. When asked how he differs to Messi, he points out that he's won the Champions League for different clubs. “The difference with Messi is that I played for several clubs and won the Champions League with different clubs,” said Ronaldo. “I was top scorer in the Champions League six seasons in a row. There aren’t many players who won five Champions League trophies, so this is why I feel that I can identity myself with this tournament. “Messi is an excellent player who will be remembered not just for his Ballon d’Or wins, but also for having improved – like me – year after year. “I wake up every morning with the idea in my head of training with the objective of achieving something more, not just to earn money.  “Thank God, I don’t lack money, so what I want to ear
