Barcelona's Philippe Coutinho heading to Bayern Munich on season-long deal

Former Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho is about to be a Bayern Munich player. Barcelona and Bayern Munich reached an agreement in which Coutinho would play for Bayern Munich for a season. "I can confirm [Bayern sporting director] Hasan Salihamidzic and I were in Barcelona last Wednesday. And we reached an agreement with both the club and the player over a transfer," said Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.    "The player is expected here in Munich in the next days, Sunday or Monday at the latest. He'll do his medical and then sign his contract," he added. 27-year-old Coutinho is expected to travel to Munich in the coming days to finalize the transfer and undergo a medical with the club. The contract gives Bayern Munich the option to make the transfer permanent at the end of his loan spell. In his 76 games played for Barcelona, Coutinho has scored 21 goals. He has however been unable to replicate the exceptional displays of his Liverpool days whi

Lionel Messi leads Barcelona into Champions League semifinal

Messi has this mesmerizing ability of taking football artistry to unseen levels, and tonight was one of those nights in which he lit up the pitch with his speed, thought and movement. Messi scored twice within four minutes in the first half, and Coutinho increased Barcelona's goal tally to three in the second half, with a brilliant goal. Barcelona beat the Premier league side 4-0 on aggregate to earn a spot at the semi-finals. Messi's first goal came from the edge of the box, in the 16th minute, and the second in the 20th.  Manchester United goalkeeper, De Gea, made a blunder that was responsible for Messi's second goal. De Gea should however be credited for denying Sergi Roberto a goal in first-half stoppage time. Philippe Coutinho scored Barcelona's third in the 61st minute, curling a stunning effort into the top corner from 25 yards. Barcelona shall meet either Liverpool or Porto in the semi-final. Manchester United coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told BT Sport

Coutinho thanks Messi for Penalty gesture in 6-1 Sevilla thrashing

Philippe Coutinho hailed Lionel Messi for letting him take a confidence-boosting penalty as the Catalans demolished Sevilla 6-1 in a praiseworthy Copa del Rey quarter-final comeback on Wednesday. Coutinho struggled in the first leg of the quarter finals in which Sevilla beat Barcelona 2-0, failing to replicate his wonderful performance at Liverpool. Coutinho played a much better game today, grabbing his first opportunity after Messi was brought down by Quincy Promes in the 13th minute. Messi gave Coutinho the ball and told him to take the shot. This was the beginning of Barcelona's comeback, as Coutinho scored Barcelona's first goal of the game. He went on to score another goal, as did former Sevilla midfielder Ivan Rakitic, Luis Suarez, Sergi Roberto and Messi. Barcelona qualified for the Copa del Rey semi-finals with their 6-1 victory overturning the 2-0 deficit from the first leg when Barcelona captain Lionel Messi was rested by Ernesto Valverde.  Talking to Bar

Lionel Messi to play Real Betis Today

Barcelona captain Lionel Messi has been absent for three weeks following a broken arm but he is healed and will play with the rest of the Barcelona squad in Sunday's (November 11, 2018) La Liga encounter. Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde was however hesitant in declaring Messi fit enough or no to play for 90 minutes against Real Betis but said he was no longer worried about sustaining a similar injury. Messi broke his arm 23 days ago while in a La Liga game against Sevilla. "We'll see tomorrow but he has lost the fear of falling over, of supporting himself, of clashing with opponents," Valverde said at a news conference. "That's the main thing, because these types of injuries limit you in those aspects. He is in good shape, certainly." Despite Barcelona's record scorer's absence, the Blaugrana have fared well, beating Inter 2-1 at home, thrashing Real Madrid 5-1, defeating Rayo Vallecano in La Liga and securing a 1-0 win over Cultural
