Iran's coronavirus death toll rises to 1,685

Iran's Health Ministry spokesperson Kianoush Jahanpour said 1,028 new virus cases were detected over the past 24 hours, and 129 deaths recorded. The new death toll from the virus in Oran stands at 1,685, while the total number of cases stands at 21,637. Of the 21,637, 7,913 have been treated and discharged from hospital. The U.S. proposed aiding Iran fight the novel coronavirus but Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei rejected U.S. assistance, citing an unfounded conspiracy theory which claims that the virus could be man-made, by America. “I do not know how real this accusation is but when it exists, who in their right mind would trust you to bring them medication?” Khamenei said. “Possibly your medicine is a way to spread the virus more.”

Coronavirus in the US: 26,747 cases, 340 deaths

The coronavirus pandemic has claimed more than 13,000 deaths so far, with the total number of confirmed cases exceeding 311,000. More than 93,000 people have recovered worldwide. As of March 22, the US had 26,747 confirmed coronavirus cases and 340 deaths. It is now the country with the third-highest number of cases as it has overtaken Spain, Iran and Germany. China and Italy have 81,248 cases and 53,578 cases respectively. However the US has a good grip on the pandemic with a much lower number of deaths when compared to the others. States like New York, California, Illinois, and Oregon have enacted stay-at-home orders for residents.

Legendary country star Kenny Rogers dead at 81

Kenny Rogers' family announced the country music star's death on his Twitter account on Friday, March 20. They said he died from natural causes at home, surrounded by the family. The tweet read: " The Rogers family is sad to announce that Kenny Rogers passed away last night at 10:25PM at the age of 81. Rogers passed away peacefully at home from natural causes under the care of hospice and surrounded by his family."   He passed away peacefully at home in Sandy Springs, Ga., of natural causes at 10:25 p.m. Kenny Rogers had an extensive career that spanned beyond six decades and was known for chart toppers such as "The Gambler", "Lady", "Lucile" and "Islands in the stream". His multiple awards include six Country Music Awards (CMA Awards), three Grammy awards and 24 No. 1 hits. Italy reports 793 coronavirus deaths in 24 hours

Italy has recorded its largest daily spike in coronavirus deaths since the start of the coronavirus outbreak in Italy. There were 793 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking Italy's total number of deaths to 4,825. There was also a 13.9% surge in its number of new coronavirus cases, a rise from the previous day's 47,021 to 53,578. Lombardy is the most critically hit region in Italy, with 3,095 deaths and 25,515 cases so far. Lombardy accounts for more than 605 of Italy's latest deaths.  Police were deployed across the streets of Rome on Saturday, checking documents and fining those who had no valid reason to be outside. 

Woman licks plane toilet seat for 'coronavirus challenge'

Ava Louise, a 22-year-old social media influencer and two-time Dr. Phil guest uploaded a video on her Twitter account of her licking an airplane toilet seat, and captioned it: "Please RT this so people can know how to properly be sanitary on the airplane." She stared into the camera seductively as she licked the toilet seat. The video had the words "coronavirus challenge" emblazoned across it. Many clamored for her imprisonment after the video. In another tweet, she declared: "Y’all want me to go to jail but I don’t have coronavirus so I didn’t put anyone at risk...NOT EVEN MYSELF I BLEACHED IT." She later told Insider it was all part of a "clout" chasing ploy, as she said she was tired of competing with coronavirus for attention.She said: "tired of some b---- named corona getting more publicity than ME." She also said "hot blondes" can recover from anything, so "no harm done".

Iran's coronavirus death toll hits 1,556, cases rise to 20,610

Iran's Health Ministry spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour, revealed at a news conference that Iran had recorded 966 new coronavirus cases and 123 more deaths over the past 24 hours. The number of daily deaths recorded was lower than Iran's highest daily surge of 149. He added that 7,635 people had recovered since the outbreak of the virus in Iran. In Turkey, its Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said late on Friday that the novel coronavirus had claimed 5 more lives, taking its death toll to 9, while the number of new cases had surged by 311, taking Turkey's total of confirmed cases to 670. In India, 60 cases were reported on Friday, taking the country's toll of confirmed cases to 283. The coronavirus outbreak in Indonesia has claimed 38 lives so far, with 81 new cases confirmed on Saturday, March 21. Indonesia now has a total of 450 confirmed cases and 20 recoveries.
