Totti ready to hand Messi his iconic number 10 shirt

Roma's legendary striker and director, Francesco Totti made comments on Barcelona's talisman for whom he has much admiration. These comments were made following the recent squabble between Roma and Barcelona over Malcom's somewhat illegal transfer from Bordeaux to Bernabeu. The Roma director was asked about Roma's chances of signing Messi as per reports that they could be preparing a bid for the Argentinian forward. There is a strong desire in Italy for Messi to join Roma. Were Messi to join Roma, with Ronaldo in Juventus, Serie A would enjoy a big boost in its ranking in world football.

Totti was also asked if Roma should retire his iconic #10 shirt. His response was exactly what you'd expect from the legend and visionary that he is. He said no, because he wouldn't want to kill a kid's dream of wearing that number, which was his dream as a kid. “I have always said no, they shouldn’t, but in the end it is a decision for the club to make. For the youngsters, for the kids, it is natural that they are all going to dream of wearing the number 10 shirt for Roma. I had that dream as well, and fortunately I got to live it. So, to take a child’s dream of doing it too, that would upset me.”

The humble but Realistic Totti made it clear that he wouldn't mind Messi taking over the shirt. “Who knows, if another player comes along – another Totti, or a Messi – we can sort something out. If it was Messi, he could certainly take it! I think he would take it anyway, but if not I’d bring it to him at the airport!”

The finger-cutting tradition of Indonesia's Dani tribe

The death of a loved one is always an extremely painful thing to bear, and people of different cultures grieve in diverse ways, some more unique than others. A typically unique way of grieving is that of the Dani (an Indonesian tribe). Finger-cutting is a fundamental part of grieving for women of the Dani tribe, and pertains to their women only. According to The Globe and Mail, an estimated 250,000 Dani tribe members live in a town named Wamena, in the extremely remote central highland area of Papua Province. Wamena is only accessible by plane.  Upon the death of a loved one, the top joint of one of a woman's fingers would be amputated, and smear ashes and clay across their faces. Prior to amputation, a string would be firmly tied to the upper half of the woman's finger for 30 minutes, to cause numbness. This was to reduce the pain from amputating the tip. In most cases, the responsibility of cutting off the top joint of the finger is assigned to one of the woman's...
