The
19th annual BET Awards ceremony was hosted by Regina Hall, yesterday. The BET
awards seek to recognize winners across 20 categories in a "celebration of
black culture". The ceremony which aired live from the Microsoft
Theater in downtown Los Angeles lasted for more than three and a half hours.
However, not all the trophies were handed out during the performance-and
tribute-heavy TV presentation. Tyler Perry was honored with the Ultimate
Icon Award, Mary J. Blige received the Lifetime Achievement Award,
and Nipsey Hussle (who was killed in March) was posthumously honored with
the Humanitarian Award.
