Cristiano Ronaldo seemingly angry after missing out on UEFA Nations League Player of the Tournament award
Portugal players
affectionately congratulated Bernado Silva, winner of the UEFA Nations League
Player of the Tournament award, with pats on the back of his neck and on his
head, but Ronaldo gave the 24-year-old midfielder an annoyed look instead.
Perhaps Ronaldo thought his heroics against Switzerland in the semi-final would
be enough to land him the award.
Look how happy “the leader” was when Bernardo got announced as the POTT 😂 pic.twitter.com/0Wovx7tZj7— Gabs 🇦🇹🇦🇷 (@gabsique95) June 9, 2019
After the
game, Ronaldo was asked if lifting the Nations League boosts his chances of
winning the Ballon d'Or. He shook his head, smiled, and replied: 'The goal of the
match was to win and to play well.' He was probed again, but replied sternly:
'No, I will not speak about the Ballon d'Or.'
'Of course, the most important thing was that Portugal
won, but when you can add an individual award to it, then that's also good.
'I'm really happy with my performance, not just here in
the Nations League, but throughout this whole season.'
