Messi and Suarez extend Barcelona's La Liga lead in 2-1 victory over Getafe

FC Barcelona kicked off the new year without the holiday hangover as they secured and extended their lead in La Liga, following a 15-day La Liga winter break. Barcelona defeated hosts Getafe 2-1 yesterday as Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez marked their names on the scoresheet.

Messi opened scoring 20 minutes into the first half, charging through the penalty box to score Barcelona's first goal at close range. He ran onto a deflected ball, collected his rebound and netted the ball from an acute angle.

Three minutes later, Messi sent soccer fans crazy with the unbelievable pass he made for Suarez.
Suarez added Barcelona's lead at the 39th minute with a sensational long distance volley.
Barcelona were not in their best form as sloppy moves and basic mistakes were observed from their players. Gerard Pique gave away cheap corners, Ter Stergen made poor clearances, and Sergio Busquets made some stray passes. Despite scoring, Suarez also had some poor touches.
Despite Jaime Mata's goal for Getafe at the 43rd minute, Barcelona held onto their lead and extend their lead atop the La Liga table with 40 points from 18 games. They are now five points ahead of their closest competitors Atletico Madrid who have 35 points. Sevilla ans Alaves follow with 33 and 31 points respectively. Real Madrid sit at the 5th position with 30 points. According to Whoscored.com data, Messi is still the most impressive player on the planet from a statistical point of view.

A typically unique way of grieving is that of the Dani (an Indonesian tribe). Finger-cutting is a fundamental part of grieving for women of the Dani tribe, and pertains to their women only. According to The Globe and Mail, an estimated 250,000 Dani tribe members live in a town named Wamena, in the extremely remote central highland area of Papua Province. Wamena is only accessible by plane.  Upon the death of a loved one, the top joint of one of a woman's fingers would be amputated, and smear ashes and clay across their faces. Prior to amputation, a string would be firmly tied to the upper half of the woman's finger for 30 minutes, to cause numbness. This was to reduce the pain from amputating the tip. In most cases, the responsibility of cutting off the top joint of the finger is assigned to one of the woman's...
