Messi and Cavani were involved in a heated argument in the
2-2 draw between Argentina and Uruguay in Tel Aviv yesterday, confirmed the
latter. Ole reports that Cavani offered to fight Messi towards
the end of the first half. Messi was brutally brought down by two Uruguayans and
Cavani approached Messi and both began exchanging words. Messi reportedly
accepted Cavani's offer saying "Whenever you want."
The pair were separated by a couple of players, with Uruguay
defender Diego Godin putting his arm around Messi to calm him. Suarez talked to
his Barcelona partner as well. The feud between Cavani and Messi reportedly
continued down the tunnel at half-time.
Cavani gave Uruguay the lead in the first half, then Sergio
Aguero headed in a Lionel Messi freekick for the equalizer.
After the match, Cavani told ESPN, "It was a
classic, a very friction match with strong entries such as South American
football.
"On both sides there are good things, we leave with a
positive feeling and we try to play football, then it was already a classic, we
live it like this."
