Barcelona routs Mallorca with Lionel Messi hat trick

Messi displayed his sixth Ballon d'Or trophy at Camp Nou prior to the La Liga match between Barcelona and Mallorca. It was a beautiful night for the Catalans as they struck a comprehensive 5-2 win over Mallorca, with Messi netting a hat-trick, and Griezmann and Suarez scoring a goal each.
Messi has now scored 53 career hat-tricks; 35 of them scored in La Liga. He now solely holds the record for the most hat-tricks in La Liga, after passing the 34 he and Cristiano Ronaldo had each scored.
Barcelona goal keeper Ter Stergen provided the assist for Barcelona's first goal, netted by Antoine Griezmann in the seventh minute. Messi put Barcelona 2-0 ahead in the 17th minute, with the crowd chanting his name: "Messi! Messi! Messi!" Ante Budimir pulled one back for the visitors in the 35th minute, temporarily silencing Camp Nou. Then Messi scored another for Barcelona. Luis Suarez scored "the most beautiful goal" of his career, through a backheel tap, putting the hosts 4-1 ahead.
“I knew I had a difficult angle, my only option was to backheel the ball firmly so it would bounce and make it harder for the goalkeeper,” reckoned SuĂĄrez. “It wouldn’t be impossible for the ball to go through if it didn’t bounce. Luckily it worked and it was a beautiful goal.” Budimir once more pulled one back for the visitors, reducing the deficieny to 4-2.
In the last minutes of the game - seven mintes to the end - Messi once more put the hosts 5-2 ahead. And that would be the final score line.
Barcelona have returned to the top of La Liga after Real Madrid moved three points clear with their 2-0 win over Espanyol. Barcelona are ahead with a slight +2 goal difference. Messi is now La Liga's top scorer with 12 goals (despite missing the first four league games of the season), and Real Madrid's Karim Benzema, second. Barcelona shall face Inter Milan on Tuesday for their final game of the Champions League group stages. They are already confirmed as Group F winners, nonetheless.

The finger-cutting tradition of Indonesia's Dani tribe

The death of a loved one is always an extremely painful thing to bear, and people of different cultures grieve in diverse ways, some more unique than others. A typically unique way of grieving is that of the Dani (an Indonesian tribe). Finger-cutting is a fundamental part of grieving for women of the Dani tribe, and pertains to their women only. According to The Globe and Mail, an estimated 250,000 Dani tribe members live in a town named Wamena, in the extremely remote central highland area of Papua Province. Wamena is only accessible by plane.  Upon the death of a loved one, the top joint of one of a woman's fingers would be amputated, and smear ashes and clay across their faces. Prior to amputation, a string would be firmly tied to the upper half of the woman's finger for 30 minutes, to cause numbness. This was to reduce the pain from amputating the tip. In most cases, the responsibility of cutting off the top joint of the finger is assigned to one of the woman's
