In an interview with
GQ Italia, Zlatan Ibrahim took a dig at his future Serie A opponent Cristiano
Ronaldo, as the 38-year-old is set to return to AC Milan. He was asked if he
would find the real Ronaldo in Italy, referencing the Juventus No 7. Ibrahimovic
was quick to shut down the idea, saying: "There is one Ronaldo, the
Brazilian." He has often dismissed the idea that Ronaldo's move to
Juventus from Real Madrid was a challenge. In one instance, Zlatan said:
"He signed for a team that won Serie A seven times in a row. Going to a
club like that is not a challenge. If he really wanted a challenge, he should
have gone to Juve when they were in Serie B."
Zlatan has often
hailed the Brazilian Ronaldo as his football icon. He told ESPN Brazil, “I think I’d go
for Ronaldo. For me, he was an example of what football is.
“Everything he
did left you open-mouthed. The way he dribbled, the way he ran, the way he
scored, he was a true phenomenon.”
El Fenomeno
(Brazilian Ronaldo) has won two World Cup titles, and is a two-time Ballon d'Or
winner.
Ibrahimovic recently
parted ways with Los Angeles Galaxy (in November), after two seasons at the
club.
