Jay-Z's Shutout At The 60th Edition of The Grammys

Jay-Z was honored with the Industry Icon award at the pre-Grammy gala on Saturday, January 27th. Jay opened up and talked about his evolving feelings on the Grammy Awards. Jay-Z had a complicated relationship with the Grammys for a long time. He boycotted the Grammys from 1998 TO 2004. He said he ended the boycott when the "beautiful Miss Beyoncé" was nominated. He said, "I realized that art is super-subjective. The academy, they are human like we are and they are voting on things they like. And we can pretend we don't care, but we do." Jay-Z's heavily analyzed and intimate album "4:44" earned him eight Grammy nominations, making him the most nominated artist at the 60th edition of the Grammy Awards.

It was a shock to many that the heavily nominated artist wont not a single award in the eight categories he was nominated. Jay-Z's "4:44" album was nominated for Album of the Year but lost to Bruno Mars' 24K Magic. A track from the album, "4:44" which shares his album's title was nominated for Song of the Year and for Best Rap Performance, "The Story of O.J." was nominated for Record of the Year, Best Rap Song and Best Music Video. His Beyoncé collab "Family Feud" was nominated for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. However, Bruno Mars' "24K Magic" won him the Record of the Year Award, and "That's What I Like" beat out Jay-Z's "4:44" for Song of the Year. Kendrick Lamar graciously took home all of the rap awards. Many people on Twitter were pissed because the 21-time Grammy Award winner/hip-hop mogul wet home "awardless".

Take a look at some of the reactions from Jay-Z's fans on social media. "Wow #JayZ did not win not one #Grammy tonight. When we starting the Boycott?" @MzKane0107 tweeted. Another Twitter user @lique-44 wrote after the Grammys, "Jay z deserved to go home with 8 Grammys. I'm sick to my stomach." Jimmy Elie tweeted, "Jay Z didn't even win one grammy I'm done with the Grammy's #GRAMMYs". @Truth_Anihr tweeted, "Low key, #Beyonce & #Jay Z r never coming back to the #Grammies after this." @pursuitofalexis tweeted, "JayZ deserved at least one Grammy tonight." @Sowmyak tweeted, "Jay-Z got robbed. That's it. Goodnight #grammys".

Some got sarcastic, saying Jay got what he deserved for cheating on Beyoncé aka Queen Bee, his superstar wife. @ashleybrwites_ tweeted, "Jay Z didn't win cause he cheated on Queen Bee, but I ain't the one to gossip *sips wine*". @laurenzup tweeted, "see what happens when u cheat on beyonce". Others made fun of him.  @iamraay_ tweeted, "Jay z succeeds Rihanna to become the artist with the most nominations with no wins in a night."
