Roland Fomundam -
founder and CEO of GreenHouse Ventures, was born on August 2nd, in Douala, Cameroon. The astute social entrepreneur and business
development consultant founded GreenHouse Ventures (GHV) Ltd - Cameroon's
premier sustainable agriculture company - in 2013. GHV's vision is to lead the
practice of sustainable agriculture, and make farming a profitable venture in
West and Central Africa. Roland Fomundam is credited with the introduction of
greenhouse farming in Cameroon, with the first greenhouse going operational in
December 2014.
GHV has earned the reputation as leader in sustainable agriculture by creating a platform that includes producers in the value chain of their produce and enables consumers to have high valued food at affordable prices. GHV has set its footprint in six out of the 10 regions of Cameroon since its creation, and deployed over 100 greenhouses. One of the company's latest exploits is the finalization of a win-win relationship with Fraisen, Africa's leading producer of strawberries, based in Senegal. In order to meet current and growing demand for GHV produce, they launched a crowdfundingcampaign in June, with the goal of raising FCFA 100,000,000. GHV customers can now schedule their orders at www.orders.greenhouseventures.cm.
Before
introducing greenhouses in Cameroon, Roland led the development and deployment
of the first solar dehydrator in the country, and introduced other eco-friendly
technologies such as corn deshellers, green charcoal and the mechanical water
pump.
Roland
holds a Master of Science in Technological Entrepreneurship from Northeastern
University (2010). He also holds a dual Bachelors in Biology and Business
Management from Northeastern University. Before GHV, Roland founded two
non-profit-making companies - Youth Action Africa Inc. and SAFAM Center forLearning and Entrepreneurship.
He has been a visiting lecturer to universities in
Cameroon, teaching Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship. In 2017, Roland was
