Football World Pays Tribute to Emiliano Sala

Emiliano Sala's family began grieving the passing of the Cardiff City footballer on Friday after British Authorities (AAIB) formally identified the body recovered from the plane wreckage as Sala's. In a statement, the family said, “We can now begin to mourn our son and our brother."

“We would like to thank you for all of your signs of affection and support in the most painful time of our life. “To see everyone doing everything possible to join us in the search has been a precious help to us,” the family said.
Sala's former club Nantes, announced its decision to withdraw the jersey with Sala's number 9. In a statement, Nantes president Waldemar Kita said: "I do not have the words, it's a tragedy, I'm devastated, Emiliano left his mark, which is why, like many fans, I want to honour him again by removing the number 9 ". The French league, Ligue 1, will also honor Sala with a minute of applause before every game.
Cardiff led tributes to Emiliano Sala with a statement on their website under a picture of the player. “We offer our most heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the family of Emiliano. He and David will forever remain in our thoughts,” the Welsh club said.
FIFA released a statement addressing Sala's death. It read, "FIFA and the whole football community are deeply saddened about the death of Emiliano Sala. "FIFA and its president Gianni Infantino would like to extend their sincerest condolences to his friends and family. Our thoughts are also with the family of pilot David Ibbotson."
Sergio Aguero led the tributes from footballers with a message for his fellow Argentine. The Manchester City ace said: "Rest in peace, Emiliano. My condolences to his friends and family."
Argentine publication Clarin last month published what may have been Sala's last message, amidst the turbulence of an eminent crash.
“We’re up in the plane and it seems it’s about to crash,” said the message, which Clarin said was verified by Sala’s father, Horacio Sala.
“If you have not heard anything from me in an hour and a half, I don’t know if they’re going to send someone to find me, because, you know, they’re not going to be able to,” he further said. “Dad. I’m really scared.”
Below are some tweeted and instagrammed tributes to the fallen Nantes hero. The first is a moving tribute from Romina Sala, Emiliano's sister. It reads, "Your soul in my soul will shine forever, thus illuminating the time of my existence. I love you, tito."

The finger-cutting tradition of Indonesia's Dani tribe

The death of a loved one is always an extremely painful thing to bear, and people of different cultures grieve in diverse ways, some more unique than others. A typically unique way of grieving is that of the Dani (an Indonesian tribe). Finger-cutting is a fundamental part of grieving for women of the Dani tribe, and pertains to their women only. According to The Globe and Mail, an estimated 250,000 Dani tribe members live in a town named Wamena, in the extremely remote central highland area of Papua Province. Wamena is only accessible by plane.  Upon the death of a loved one, the top joint of one of a woman's fingers would be amputated, and smear ashes and clay across their faces. Prior to amputation, a string would be firmly tied to the upper half of the woman's finger for 30 minutes, to cause numbness. This was to reduce the pain from amputating the tip. In most cases, the responsibility of cutting off the top joint of the finger is assigned to one of the woman's
