1. An Indian, Vijay Kumar V.A holds the record
for the most teeth in a mouth. He has 37 teeth, five more than the average
number for adults.
2. India exports over $415 million worth of hair
annually. It is estimated that about 40,000 pilgrims - especially those who
cannot afford to donate money or jewelry - donate their hair in temples every
day, as a spiritual offering.
3. India is the world's largest milk producer,
followed by the US, China, Pakistan and Brazil. India produces 21% of the
world's global milk output.
4. Mawsynram and Cherrapunji, the two wettest
places in the world, are found in India. Mawsynram receives an annual rainfall of 11,871
millimeters, while Cherrapunji, only 15 kilometers from Mawsynram, receives
11,777 millimeters.
5. Shakuntala Devi was an Indian writer and
mathematical prodigy. She was popularly known as the "human
computer". Devi earned the title "human computer" in 1977 when
she found the 23rd root of a 201-digit number in just 50 seconds - 12 seconds
faster than the Univac computer. She died on April 21, 2013.
6. India is home to 20 of the world's 30 most
polluted cities in the world, including the most polluted city. According to Greenpeace and
AirVisual, Gurugram, a suburb of the Indian capital New Delhi, is the
world's most polluted city.
7. The most expensive home built in the world is
