Belgium national team
manager Roberto Martinez recently claimed Chelsea star Eden Hazard is the most
decisive player in the world after Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. The
talismanic Stamford Bridge figure starred for Chelsea and Belgium in 2018,
positioning himself at the top of the Premier League ranks.
Martinez
told The Times, “At
international level, I have only seen a player playing at the very top
consistently.
“If you take Ronaldo and Messi away, I don’t think you
can find another player as decisive.
“Eden has won the league at Lille, a team that didn’t
have the right to win it.
“And he has won the league at Chelsea in two different
projects.
“The consistency is there, and he is at the best moment
of his career right now.”
Hazard has
scored eight goals and made nine assists for Chelsea this season. Sky Sports
pundit Paul Merson believes Hazard is much more able than his peers at
Manchester United, given his ability to single-handedly carry Chelsea.
He said, “When he's at his best, he's the best of the
best. He can beat three players and score a goal, and I don't see a lot of
people in the country doing that.
"He's carrying Chelsea. [Kevin] De Bruyne,
[Raheem] Sterling et al aren't carrying their team but Hazard can. That first
few months of the season, you could argue that he was the best player in world
football.
"We've seen him have dips in the past, and he needs
that consistency, but if I were to buy one player out of everyone, it would be
him."
