On Saturday, April 11, Italy's Civil Protection Agency
reported 619 coronavirus deaths - up from Friday's 570. From February 21 when
Italy recorded its first death from the virus, 19,468 people have died from the
virus in Italy. There were 4,694 new cases recorded on Saturday, which takes
the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 152,271.
Italy's Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, on Friday night,
announced the creation of a task force dedicated to tackling the effects of the
pandemic. The said task force will be headed by Vittorio Colao - Vodafone's
former CEO. PM Conte also announced an extension of the lockdown - which has
been in place since March 9 - to May 3.
