On Wednesday, April 1,
Italy's Civil Protection Agency announced that Italy's death toll from the
virus has climbed by only 727 deaths - the lowest it has recorded in over a
week. The overall death toll in the country stands at 13,155. Only yesterday,
the number of deaths recorded was as high as 837. 4,782 new cases were
registered taking the total of confirmed cases in the country to 110,574.
Silvio Brusaferro, the
president of Italy’s Higher Health Institute (ISS) said: "The curve tells
us that we’re at a plateau. That doesn’t mean we’ve hit the peak and that
it’s over, but that we must start the descent … by applying the measures in
force.
