UK coronavirus death toll sees biggest rise since outbreak - 569 deaths in 24 hours


According to the Department of Health figures in the UK, a total of 2,921 coronavirus patients have died in the UK, following a surge of 569 deaths over the last 24 hours. As of 9:00 a.m. on April 2, there are 33,718 coronavirus cases in the UK. The lockdown in the UK is set to continue for a third week before review.
In a video message posted on Twitter, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson who is also coronavirus-positive lamented the loss of so many lives. "Let's be in no doubt this has been a sad, sad day," he said. 
Legendary Scottish comedian Eddie Large has died in hospital at the age of 78 after contracting coronavirus. In a statement, Eddie's son said the family wasn't allowed to visit him while he was hospitalized due to strict social distancing rules.
