On Thursday, April 9, Italy's Civil Protection Agency reported
4,204 new cases, an increase from Wednesday's 3,836. Total confirmed cases in
Italy sum up to 143,626 - the third highest tally behind the United States and
Spain. The daily death toll also increased from 542 on Wednesday to 610 on
Thursday. The total number of coronavirus fatalities in Italy now stands at
18,279. Reports show that 100 Italian doctors have died from Covid-19 after
contracting the virus.
