On Wednesday, April 22, Italy's Civil
Protection Agency reported 437 new deaths from the coronavirus, a drop from
Tuesday's 534. There was an increase in the daily tally of new cases; an
increase to 3,370 from 2,729 on Tuesday.
The number of confirmed cases in Italy
now stands at 187,327, the third highest global total after the United States
and Spain. The number of active cases fell to 107,699 from 107,709 on Tuesday,
a third consecutive daily decline.

grim milestone was crossed in Italy today. The death toll crossed 25,000
deaths, the tally now stands at 25,085 - the second-highest in the world after
that of the United States.
