Statistics from Johns Hopkins University show that the
global number of confirmed coronavirus cases have now topped 200,000. More than
82,000 of the over 200,000 confirmed cases have recovered from the Covid-19
disease. Most of the recovered cases are in China. The virus generally causes mild
or moderate symptoms like fever and cough. The elderly and those with
underlying health conditions are however likely to be severely ill, exhibiting
severe symptoms when they contract the virus.
The global death toll has surpassed 8,000 - 8,006 deaths so
far. The countries with the most confirmed cases are China, Italy, Iran, Spain
and Germany. These countries, including France, also have the greatest number
of deaths. The Covid-19 outbreak was declared a pandemic by the World Health
Organization on March 11, 2020.
The US and Canada have agreed on a ban on nonessential
travel between both countries.
