Coronavirus in Italy: 627 die in 24 hours

Friday, March 20, Italy's death toll keeps skyrocketing. In the last 24 hours, 627 people have lost their lives in Italy. 5,986 new cases were also recorded - the highest 24 hour surge in cases and deaths recorded since the outbreak of the virus in Italy. The total number of coronavirus cases recorded in Italy stand at 47,021 and total number of fatalities, 4,032. The army has been deployed in northern Italy to help move corpses as funeral services are overwhelmed.

So far, the virus has claimed more than 10,400 lives worldwide, and has now reached every continent in the world, except Antarctica. So far, 87,351 people have recovered from the virus.
