Coronavirus: Italy reports 3,497 new cases

On Saturday, March 14, 2020, Italy reported 3,497 new coronavirus cases and 175 deaths, taking their total death tally from the novel coronavirus outbreak to 1,441. Authorities report the total number of infections now stand at 21,157. Italy is the worst hit country in Europe, only second to China where the outbreak began. So far, 1,996 patients have recovered in Italy. There has also been a spike in the number of patients in intensive care, a rise from 1,328 to 1,518.

Lombardy is the worst affected region in Italy. It recorded an increase of 76 deaths on Saturday, taking its death toll to 966. Its number of new cases surged by 1,865 yesterday, taking the total cases to 11,685.
