Isabel Díaz Ayuso, the president of the Madrid region in
Spain, estimates that eight out of every ten persons in the Spanish capital
Madrid will get the Covid-19 disease. She said "they will have mild
symptoms," but pointed out that "it will be a problem" for 15%
of the people that make up vulnerable population. In an interview on Spanish
radio, she said: "This virus has been in Spain for a longer
time and is going to spread to practically everyone, and in most, it will not
leave lasting marks. But the problem is the vulnerable population."
She said the disease was "lethal" for the elderly
who have underlying health issues. Covid-19 "can end the life of a person
who is in the vulnerable population group," she added. Taking that into
consideration, she said the region of Madrid had resolved to unify healthcare
in the public and private sectors and convert "normal beds into ICU
beds," in a bid to "save time", she said. She revealed that the
Ministry of Health plans to facilitate "new rapid tests" to detect
the coronavirus this weekend.
