On Thursday March 13 2020, Tom Hanks and wife
Rita Wilson tested positive for the novel coronavirus. The veteran actor said
he and Rita had been feeling "a bit tired, like we had colds
and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers
too." Hanks was (and still is) in Australia for the
production of an Elvis Presley biopic, now suspended. Hanks and wife are
currently in quarantine.
Today, Hanks updated fans on he and his wife's
condition, thanking the Australians "taking such good care of
us" in a Gold Coast hospital. He also reiterated that and his wife, both 63, were in self-isolation. A light-hearted Hanks
said: "There
are those for whom it could lead to a very serious illness. We are taking it
one day at a time." He continued: "There are things we can do to get
through this by following the advice of expert." He concluded with a
reference to one of his often-quoted lines in the film A League of their Own: "Remember, despite all the
current events, there is no crying in baseball."
